Alys

Alys will be one of the dancers in my video, who joins in with Becca (the main actor) She has a quirky look and is a very good dancer. I hope to dress her quite alternatively, very boho and hippy. As the 3 actors will be having different looks.

Helen

Helen will be another dancer which does the same as Alys, they will be very upbeat, and interact with Becca at some of the different locations. I would like Helen to look quite girly and wear several dresses.

Becca

Becca will be the main actor in the video, who will take on the role as the singer (so will be lip-syncing for some of the song) She will be in all of the music video and the focus will be her strutting (walking) to the beat of the song. Her style will be quite indie-rock, and she will probably have a few costume changes for the the different locations she is in.

Target Audience

The genre of my song is indie pop so will attract an audience that like listening to pop music, but with an alternative edge. This will be reinforced by the costume and location of my my music video, being quite quirky and upbeat. I believe my target audience will be younger females, as the main singer and dancers will be females. Though, this may also appeal to young males who enjoy the music and females in involved. The female singer will be attractive, and take the focus due to her confidence and dancing/strutting.

Deciding on the best method to filming my video

Today I tried out a steadicam, wheeled tripod and monopod, to see which would be easier to produce the smoothest image for the walking shots in my music video.

 

The steadicam was very difficult to keep at the same level constantly, and with the risk of it being slightly unstable the image it captured would have been affected.



The wheeled tripod was good in the sense that I didn't have to worry about maintaining holding the camera at the same level, but wasn't good when the floor had any lumps or grooves, as it made the footage shaky.



The monopod was the most effective, and the footage seemed to be clear and steady. As I will be walking backwards in front of the singer lipsyncing, I will have to make sure I can walk safely without bumping in to anything.

Jordin Sparks- use of walking

This video includes lots of shots of walking, and a focus on the motion of the legs. It has several shots of strangers too, with their walking still fitting the beat of the track.

Beyonce- The 'I Am Sasha Fierce' album cover is really effective due to the simplicity of the black and white, plain make up and close up shot. Yet being quite minimalistic, Beyonce still looks glamorous and powerful.




Beyonce- The 'Bday' album cover is again very striking due to her trend of having images looking directly to the camera, and never going too much lower than her shoulders. This again looks empowering and indepedant.



Lana Del Rey- Again the direct eye contact is attention grabbing, and with Lana being placed centrally makes her the main focus, particularly with the white of her shirt, and the clouds. This is a medium shot, but the background, font use and image works together very well.



Rihanna- The high angle shot/C.U would make her seem vulnerable but the facial expression shows the edge in her character, and I think that suits a female artist with a strong voice.
